Does Extra Money Sound Like a Good Thing?

To most people it would. There always seems to be something extra we need. If we are living paycheck to paycheck then there are likely things we cannot afford to buy and we just have to learn to live without them.

born to shop!
Then again, why should we have to? There are a number of things you can do to create more income just working at it part-time from home. Of course there are other options such as a part-time job but this is really gnarly. You must rush from one job to the next considering your commute time and start and end time for both positions.

You may end up eating dinner in your car as you drive from one job to the other. Once again you were not able to see your family as by the time you get home they will be sleeping. Obviously if you think about having a part-time home business to earn extra money, it is a whole lot more pleasant and relaxed than the above scenario.

You can take your time coming home from your day job and settling in. You can visit with your family and have a nice relaxing dinner. Whenever you are ready, you can go and boot up your computer. You can now focus on developing your source of extra income, your part-time home business. It is up to you if you have the energy to put in several hours or just more or less check in and make sure everything is running right.

There are many things you can do online to earn money. Easiest and fastest would be joining an affiliate program where they supply everything you need to get set up and running. All you have to do is marketing and advertising online to promote the business and eventually earn commissions.

There are also other things you can do that also involve advertising – for example becoming a reseller for a product where the company does ‘drop-shipping’ straight from your order to the customer.

Other examples are providing a service for other home businesses – maybe technical, maybe office services. There are lots of ideas for you to consider that cost very little to implement.

Getting Things Done – Try to be Ahead of Time

Whenever possible try to have advanced notice of something that you need to do to keep your business running smoothly, and then go for it. You never know what may happen between now and the deadline for this issue. It could be anything – lots of little things or some that will be time consuming and may prevent you from being on time.

do it now
If you can handle doing things ahead of time even in increments, you will be ahead of the game whether or not anything out of the ordinary happens to delay you. Best case you can sit and feel prepared and on top of things. You may at this point even be able to identify something you could have done better – and even do it that way either this time or next time.

The point is there are things that do need to be done all the time with a home business. It may not be as apparent but you know what they are. Putting things off is a terrible idea for many reasons including deadlines and becoming overwhelmed when too many things stack up.

Making lists is of course very useful in staying organized – however you don’t want to have too many of these going on either. Lists may be critical but they are only instrumental in assisting you to keep track of what you need to do. They do not actually do anything to influence your bottom line.

When it comes to keeping lists it is helpful to have a few that reflect different time periods. You want to be able to see your target goals clearly. Mixing up what you need by this Wednesday is hardly relevant to what you need next month except maybe indirectly. The point though is you end up with a big scribbled mess that could hardly help you feel organized.

You should have at least 3-lists. One that reflects what you need to do in the short-term – today or this week. Another that has mid-range goals as may be necessary within 30-days. Then you can have a ‘master plan’ that reflects your long-range plans and might cover 6-months to a year so that you will remember what your long-term target goals are.

Business Builders May Become Empire Builders

You know everybody had to start somewhere. Very few people were awarded ‘the silver spoon in their mouth’ when they were born. It seems like even if you are given a huge amount of money that it is no guarantee that the person will be a success or more importantly happy in his life even with a big leg up.
build a biz

Then there are those true guys that built empires on their own and could have started with anything as an initial business. After they got the first one going and figured it out and achieved a little success, they went on to add more things that might generate income. At the ‘end of the day’ they have a business empire.

Not saying everybody is capable of starting General Motors or anything, but on a smaller scale we are all quite capable of doing just about anything we put our mind to with a little luck (and common sense). It doesn’t have to be ‘rocket science’ or anything spectacular – money is money and doesn’t matter where it comes from as long as it is legal and ethical.

There are so many facets to business and to the Internet that there is just really an unlimited number of possibilities that could eventually become part of your empire. You just have to do a little research in your own head about what you are interested in. Then you might take that to next step and do a little simple analysis on what it would take to get involved online.

If the whole thing seems like it is a possibility then you might start planning how you would get it together. Keep it simple. Don’t get any grandiose ideas in the beginning that involve loans or anything that is not totally feasible. This is something that may come later and may require you to prove some things in order to qualify for funding. So don’t even think about it in the beginning.

You may not realize what you have at your disposal on the Internet. You have a vast sea of information that is free to everyone. You can derive as much benefit as you are willing.

There are just no limits and it sure would be stupid to waste it. There is no reason anymore just to accept being average if you don’t want to. You can become wealthy without investing a lot of money – but you have to invest your effort and time and be serious.

Home Business Entrepreneurs Keep On Trucking

It is wise to stick with your choices long enough to see how they work. After you research your potential affiliate programs and services for your business and actually join them then dig in. You need to give them a chance because there are many factors that determine speed of success, etc., that are not even related to the actual program.

This can be the economy/consumer confidence, world affairs, the seasons and even the weather that affect all sales businesses to one degree or another either off or online. So this is one reason you don’t want to ‘fly off the handle’ if you don’t see results right off. (Not to mention to consider how much action you are actually taking consistently to promote your business since this is the main factor).

Check Mate

With that said as you build your business you should also be on the lookout for new opportunities to add to your portfolio of income streams. Some may be better than others in the long run so you want to have a few things going on not only to compare results but to determine which programs are keepers and which ones don’t have enough substance.

Remember though you can even make money in the short-term on those that don’t have much substance strictly because they are the new ‘fad’ and you will have the benefit of earning some commissions just by virtue of everyone wanting to see what is going on with the new program (if it is being promoted sufficiently).

You may find at first when a program launches that they put all their resources into heavy advertising, marketing, and holding online meetings, etc. to get people acquainted and excited. Naturally not many small businesses can keep up the volume due to costs for a long period, so that is when you may kind of see a slow-down in response as a result. Hopefully you will move into a steady stream from there and you can sustain your business.

In any case the idea is to give things a fair chance for as long as you can. Look at your own stats and reviews (with a grain of salt) and see what the world is saying. On the other hand if after several months you see nothing in spite of your efforts, etc., then maybe it is time to drop it and look for a new opportunity to replace it. The point is change is always necessary and good one way or the other unless you have found a goldmine you can depend on.

Are You Cut Out to be a Home Business Entrepreneur?

If you are not sure, Wikipedia has some very good definitions of ‘Entrepreneur’ to help you decide, as follows: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entrepreneurship

home biz

(Quote) “Entrepreneurship is the process of designing, launching and running a new business, i.e. a startup company offering a product, process or service.”

It has been defined as the “…capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit.”

“The entrepreneur is “a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk.” (end of quote)

There are actually some key points here about initiative and risk that are very relevant to determining if you even want to be an ‘entrepreneur’. Are you someone who is willing to take initiative? Risk? The opposite of initiative and risk is spelled ‘J-O-B’. Everything is straight up. Job description, duties performed, cash paid.

While a little initiative may be smiled upon by your employer they actually can have a mixed reaction lest you expect a raise for going above and beyond. They may purposely refuse to acknowledge your efforts for this reason. Of course that is not an absolute and some will actually reward initiative especially if it is something that you normally do.

Risk is another issue that is huge because this may be where you prefer a job since you are more or less guaranteed a paycheck after you work so many hours. With being a home business entrepreneur to start out at least you may work many hours without substantial pay. You really have to ask yourself if this bothers you.

For sure most people would want to be paid for their effort; however an entrepreneur would likely be able to see the ‘big picture’ and realize that the business needs to be developed before it reaps actual cash. Again this is not an absolute either. There are things like for example affiliate programs that may pay you right off the bat when/if you make a sale. There are no guarantees though so again this is a risk.

In this example it is actually a small risk because most affiliate programs have low monthly membership fees to participate, and should NEVER have a contract beyond month-to-month. In any case, make it or break it you will come out ahead at the very least having gained some knowledge and experience.

If you are going to actually build a real business, you will need to assume the risk and take the initiative because it is your responsibility. This may include much more than merely checking your email and will require some organization and planning.

Why People Fail to Succeed in Online Business

The main reason people fail at online business is said to be because they quit too soon, without giving it a fair chance. The underlying reasons for this are that they (a) Believe there is some sort of magic about the Internet that will allow them to succeed by osmosis; (b) Want something for nothing, meaning they are not willing to really work at it. (c) Do not actually have a realistic plan of action that includes investing their time and effort; (d) Do not treat it seriously as they would a job.

Let’s examine each of these things in a little more depth.

(a) Belief in magic. It is true that some terminology may lead someone to feel that things will be a lot easier and faster than they really are. This is where normal people should employ whatever common sense and logic they may have. Understand that the statements are addressed to the public at large. There is a broad spectrum ranging from those with skills, resources and previous experience, all the way to people brand new to the Internet, computers and/or sales and marketing.

Many statements are telling us that it is POSSIBLE – and it is POSSIBLE for the first group who have experience. Does this say it is IMPOSSIBLE without it? No, not at all, but being realistic, they will need to accept that fact that they have to learn and get some experience in order for the eventuality of success to happen for them. If they are willing and able to accept this then they have a chance to succeed with an online business.

(b) Something for nothing. People may feel that they are doing all they need to do by joining an affiliate program and paying the monthly dues. However if nothing else is done to promote the business after that then it is the same as doing nothing. Having a link with an ID does absolutely nothing without promoting it aggressively by marketing and advertising.

Yet some people feel entitled to everyone else doing everything for them and they just sit back and wait for the money to roll in. They have a very long wait because without their active participation nothing will ever happen. They are very willing to accept anything that is free which is meant to help them get started. If they don’t see anything tangible at the end of the trial period they are out of there, often with very unkind things to say about the program when it did not produce magical results for them instantly.

The correct attitude for someone who is sincerely trying to start a business would be gratitude for the opportunity, and a real effort to make proper use of the resources that were shared with them in good faith. They need to understand reality and the fact that nobody achieves wealth without work other than lottery winners and heirs to fortunes. If it seems so effortless for the ‘guru’s with their sensational stories, you are not reading the part where they struggled uphill for years to achieve what they have now.

It is true some don’t elaborate on that so you have to be realistic in your own thinking to be sure you are not mislead. An important thing to realize is they were for the most part not born with ‘a silver spoon in their mouth’ – had no special privileges or superior intelligence – and they don’t owe you anything even if they did – other than to honor their promises and guarantees.

(c) A realistic plan. This would include having a definite business plan just in so far as what exactly you need to learn to do. You need to define in detail the whats, whens, hows and whys. What exact steps you need to take to do all the necessary things in conducting a professional business. Do you have what you need to do that? If not take steps to find out how to get it.

(d) Do not treat it seriously. You must be disciplined and focused if you want to achieve anything with your online business. You have to stay motivated even though you may not see any results at first. Just because you can work on your own time schedule does not mean skip it or put it off until ‘tomorrow’. You need to include a work schedule in your plan and be committed to it. Then work it out.
