Safety in Numbers – Internet Marketing

Internet marketing is something that needs to be done aggressively and consistently over time to build and sustain momentum. Marketers can never rest on their laurels because they will quickly fall behind and go to the bottom of the pile. That’s marketing anything not just business opportunities or products online.

eMail marketing
There are many failures because people believe they can do something once or twice and that they are going to make a profit as a result. If they don’t see anything right away, they quit trying because they think it is pointless. It’s really sad that some people do not think things through. Other than a phony magic show where do they get the idea things just pop out of hats?

There is a list of reasons why people don’t try hard enough and most are avoidable. The reason that you always need to keep the volume of your promotions turned way up, is that marketing is a bit like ‘finding a needle in a haystack’. The majority of people around the globe are not interested in starting an online business or for that matter buying anything. It is just as likely there are those who are, and you just need to find them.

The statistic that is used for many marketing businesses is a 1-2% response rate being considered pretty good for example for eMail marketing. Note that ‘response’ can be just an inquiry and does not necessarily represent a sales transaction, so the percentage would be even smaller for actual sales.

Spammers have caused a huge problem for eMail services that are forced to use spam filters. Unfortunately the spam filters are frequently blocking legal bulk mail from businesses (and the spam is still in your inbox). The filters apparently often can’t differentiate between the two. They are amazingly unsophisticated for this day and age. Sadly your message may go to spam and never be seen.

Ethical online businesses would likely only use permission-based eMail . This means that you have to request a business to send their publication to you by ‘opting in’. Often blocked by spam filters but maybe not. eMail is invaluable to Internet marketers, regardless of the problems. You just need to allow that there is nothing we can do except accept that we are starting at a deficit thanks to evil spammers.

Don’t feel sorry for them – remember they are really not trying to do business with you. They are about disrupting business by creating chaos. Many people being inundated with spam after a while will realize it is futile to try to keep up with it and will stop opening most of their mail. Hopefully they will recognize your return address and since they signed up to receive mail from you, they will read it.

Hence, whatever you do in this regard, whether it is using list builder systems, sending solo ads, or buying leads, you should realize that you will need many on an ongoing basis to make up for those that will be lost. Remember not to get discouraged or blame the program or product you are advertising if you don’t get a response right away. Keep trying.

Home-Based Business Start-Up – Maintaining a Mindset for Success

When we are making a final determination as to whether we could set up a successful home business we should really ask ourselves the following.

keep a stiff upper lip
If we were our own boss, would we really do the work we need to do? Will we keep working diligently even though at first (and maybe for quite some time) we will not be paid? Will we be able to keep investing our time and effort and maybe a few dollars into our business for an extended period without seeing any return on investment? Will we be able to keep from feeling discouraged through this period?

You will need to be down in the trenches until you get everything set up, including some trial and error. The ‘magic sauce’ doesn’t sound very glamorous from this vantage point, does it? This is why you have to maintain a positive mindset. The work and sacrifice are exactly what makes the difference between make it or break it and not just at start-up but going forward as well.

So there is no point in wasting your time and other resources to start something you won’t be able to finish. That is why it is such a good idea for you to explore the possibilities first. Don’t forget that there are some business models that you may like more than others. So try a few on for size before you decide.

Also think about the goals you want to achieve if you do go into creating a home business. Do you just want to supplement your income with some extra cash? Do you actually badly need to bring in more income as what your job provides is not sufficient for a nice lifestyle?

Did you lose your job and now need to find a way to support yourself? (In this case it is probably advisable to get at least another part-time job first ) and work on your business start-up part-time (unless you have savings, severance pay, and/or unemployment insurance to tide you over). You have to have living expenses while you are developing your business.

Contrary to popular wishful thinking, starting a business is not going to generate income immediately. It needs to be developed over time with lots of effort. Just think logically – if we could send out 10 emails and then sit back and wait for the cash to roll in, why wouldn’t we all do it? The answer is because nothing like that exists (legally). It is more like 100’s of emails on a consistent basis over time that might produce some cash.

So do you think you can do it? I bet you can if you can maintain a mindset that is determined and motivated.

Many Fail To Make Money Online – The Real Reason

There’s many stories of professionals who forsake their day jobs in order to start their own businesses. Sadly though, there are also many people who are unable to make their dreams a reality. Even though they may try hard, their efforts do not result in sufficient income even to cover their living expenses.

make a plan
To avoid complete financial ruination, these folks must accept the fact that they have no choice at the moment but to put their dreams aside and find another job to support themselves. Don’t always assume that this is due to the fact that available opportunities are not profitable enough for any sustained success. This scenario is not the real reason people fail to make money online.

This problem usually starts with a failure to have a business plan. Online entrepreneurs know that there are many ways to promote product ideas on the Web. However, they do not have a clear picture of what products have a market and who that market is that they need to reach. Instead of going out on a limb, a solid, stable foundation should be created from these criteria before you begin.

An appropriate work schedule is also key. Although if you are self-employed you can work whatever hours you prefer, you still need to work consistently and more or less frequently. Home business workers are so relieved to be away from the rut of their day jobs, that they try to bypass creating any structured plans for themselves.

If you are investing in products or ideas that do not create adequate excitement, that is a common mistake as well. When a targeted market does not respond to what a company has to offer, whatever relevance these products had originally, just keep disintegrating.

Nearly all start-up costs will be considered as a loss initially. Money is going out of your pocket for development but so far nothing is coming back to you. This is one big reason to avoid becoming involved with a company that requires you to purchase inventory either for potential customers or yourself. This is how people wind up in debt after trying unsuccessfully to start a home business.

Trying to understanding the real reasons many people fail to generate income online will help you to be more successful in your own efforts. Creating a feasible business plan, adopting a dedicated work schedule and choosing the right products, services and information will make a big difference. If you target an active and interested market it is possible for people to accomplish their goals.

15 Things We Can Learn From Sir Richard Branson

You can fail and still succeed. In 1995 and 1998, Richard Branson and his team tried to be the first to circle the globe in a hot air balloon. They failed. But the publicity they received on both occasions for the Virgin Brand was priceless. Plus, we have to imagine they had fun, too.

Don’t take yourself too seriously. Rich, powerful, world-renowned – certainly someone like Richard Branson is careful to project a poised, professional image at all times, right? Nope. In 1996, Branson shaved his beard and donned a wedding dress and makeup to promote Virgin brides, his new wedding and bridalwear store.

If you’re going to compete with a big name, do something spectacular. In 1998, Branson drove a tank through Times Square and pretended to blow up a Coca-Cola sign to promote his own Virgin Cola. You can’t buy that kind of publicity.

Research and planning and pretty darn important. In 2007, Branson celebrated the first Virgin America flight by bungee jumping off a 407 foot tall building. But Branson and his team didn’t take into account that leaping off a building is NOT the same as jumping off a bridge or cliff. Branson crashed into the building twice and could have been seriously hurt or killed. Luckily, he only ripped his pants.

Pay off your losing bets, but still go for the last laugh. In 2013 Branson lost a bet with AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes over each company’s Formula 1 racing teams. Branson had to serve as a female fight attendant – complete with skirt, purse, mascara and pantyhose – for AirAsia’s airline. But Branson got the last laugh when he ‘accidentally’ spilled a tray of drinks on Fernandes’ lap.

When in ‘Rome,’ do as the Romans do. To promote Virgin Atlantic’s new routes in South Africa, Branson consulted the cultural center in Johannesburg before authentically dressing as a Zulu warrior and posing with the locals.

Do it in style. In 2004, Branson crossed the English Channel in an amphibious car, wearing a tuxedo. We wonder if he also had vodka martinis on the trip – shaken, not stirred.

Go viral. When Branson did an interview with Stephen Colbert, he splashed the talk show host with water from his mug and Colbert splashed back. The interview dissolved into both men laughing hysterically, and resulted in additional coverage, views and social media shares.

Don’t wait for others – make it happen yourself. While most people might wish Hollywood would cast them in a movie, Branson made his own movie and stared in it. The Casanova Gunslinger is a 20-minute live action movie, created by Virgin Mobile.

Test your idea. To start his new airline, Branson called Boeing and negotiated to rent one plane for a year, to see if his idea was viable.

Get inspiration from others. Branson has frequently cited non-fiction books as his inspiration for everything. For example, from Nelson Mandela Branson learned to let his vision guide him, instead of his fear.

If you’re going to do something, do it right. Virgin Records was burning cash and digging itself into debt. But Branson found a way to illegally avoid paying the 33% purchase tax. Customs eventually caught on to the scheme, and to avoid jail Branson had to pay back three times the amount not paid in taxes. He somehow managed to make the payments, and vowed to never do anything illegal again.

Be willing to do anything for your business. When Virgin announced it had flights to Scotland, Branson arrived at the press conference wearing a kilt and underwear that read, ‘Stiff Competition.’

Your past does not equal your future. Branson did poorly in school, still couldn’t read at the age of 8, and was described as hopeless in math and science. Yet now? He’s one of the richest people on the planet.

Frustration equals opportunity. When his flight to Puerto Rico was canceled, Branson charted a flight and sold seat to his fellow passengers, and Virgin Air was born.

Affiliate Marketing Programs

Many people have been enabled to earn money at home by participating in affiliate marketing programs. You can do it either part time or full time depending on your situation. Affiliate marketing and the types of products offered through them, range from beauty products to electronic devices.

become an affiliate today
Naturally choosing a good Affiliate Marketing Program is of paramount importance. Do enough research to make sure that it is a legitimate, well-known company and principal(s) that live up to their commitments to you as well as the customers you are able to acquire. Look at the track record if they have had previous businesses. Keep in mind though that many times when people do not want to really work, they will blame the program for ‘not working’ when they fail (so try to get multiple perspectives).

The product is also very important. Choosing the right product that has the potential to sell is obviously important. It is just as important that the affiliate believe in the product that he or she is promoting. You will be writing or discussing the program as a primary method of advertising and your true feelings can show through your words. That is why whenever possible you should use the product yourself. It will help with writing reviews, as well as ads.

When you become an affiliate of one or more programs, you are provided with a professional sales (web) page you can advertise. This is not a web (site) that can be changed. If you do get a few programs it would definitely be more professional if you had a website with a domain name that advertises all of your opportunities as long as they are somewhat related. There are some who do not trust affiliate links. A domain name says you are serious and there are ways to see who owns them.

Thankfully it is not that difficult to set up a blog or website for free or at low cost if you are able to follow simple menu-driven instructions. Web hosts like WordPress and Blogger enable one to set up a reasonably good looking site free of charge. The sites are easy to work with, so even someone without technical knowledge can set up a well-designed web site and be able to navigate. There are techniques you will need to learn in order to promote your business online, but again it’s just not that difficult or expensive.

Affiliate marketing can be a successful way to earn money and make a profit. The good news is that with planning, perseverance, and a little easy work,a person can successfully earn a living while working from home and the easiest way is with affiliate marketing.

Your Vision for Your Work At Home Business Online

Visualization is much more than imagination. We need to take action to bring your ideas to reality. It’s only real that the average person has little reason to believe there is such a thing as wealth without work. Legal and ethical strategies at least, so that is why you need to put your ideas into action.

can you see what it could be?
It may be fun to day dream, but it can be counter-productive. When we have not defined achievable goals, we can quickly have our hopes dashed. You have probably heard the expressions to ‘aim high’ and ‘dream big’. However if we set such lofty goals that they may be impossible to achieve at this point in our business’ development, this can become discouraging. This is exaggerated if the person really thinks they can earn money instantly by magic or osmosis, and what a crashing disappointment when they find out nothing could be further from the truth.

Like most budding online home business entrepreneurs, there may be lots of false starts. Until we create a real plan with reasonable expectations, we are just wasting time and resources – ‘spinning our wheels’. We need to get real. Ask yourself if your plan is feasible at this time, considering your skill-set, financial position, and available time.

The ‘key to success is to stay in the game’. There won’t even be a slim chance of success if we have given up on making it happen. However, if we can just keep trying, even though we have not actually achieved anything tangible, there is still a chance things will start improving eventually. If we quit too soon, we will never know what we might have achieved.

If you need something that provides a commitment, such as a job where you work X number of hours for X dollars, then get a job, or a second job. However if you want to see how far you can go, you may have to take a risk that your time and effort will result in a greater reward than you can expect within the business model that provides the structure of having a job with guaranteed pay.

If we want our own business enough that we are willing to endure almost anything within reason to achieve it, then we will eventually find a way to make it happen. While it is important to take action while we are feeling inspired, we need to remember to be realistic both about what we need to do and what we can logically expect to achieve. If we can work within those parameters, we will have the foundation for a successful home business.1.

Building a Home Business – Learn How to Do Things Yourself

It may seem convenient to have someone else do things that you are not sure how to do. However it is much better to learn how to do things for yourself. We are not talking about building a space ship (“rocket science”). We are merely talking about very basic technical things for your website or your membership program.

U R in control
Even if you could afford to hire technical support to do them for you, you will not be as well off as if you learned how to do it yourself. Somewhere in your program, in your hosting account, or in a search engine, you will find directions on how to do just about anything you need to do.

If you get used to shuffling off anything you do not know how to do, then you will never learn how to run your business completely. If you pay someone else to do it you will never learn. If you have a high volume of work and little time, then it is understandable.

However, it would be wise to ask your support to write some simple instructions for you (and pay extra if necessary) when they do your work. This way you are not tied to paying for support and never quite knowing what is going on. To be real you should actually know how everything in your business is done, whether or not you have support. You should have written procedures that anyone can follow, ‘just in case’.

Particularly if you have not been happy in your career, you will have a great time calling yourself ‘the boss’. Maybe you will also enjoy procrastinating as long as you can if you have nobody to push your work off on; but you can’t carry this too far. You being the boss are the one who is responsible for your business whether you have support or not.

You never can tell — you may come up with some new innovations on how to do things in a more efficient, more accurate way. You must learn how things are done presently or on average before you could see a different perspective where you may improve the procedure. Don’t forget to update your written procedures when you change anything throughout all stages of your home business’ development.

Working From Home – Taking Small Risks

Risking our money is not something that everybody can do with the same ease. For various reasons including past experience and even just the reality of having limited funds, people sometimes really are reluctant to gamble with their money.

make it
It is wise to consider your situation when determining if you can take a small risk. However it is really true that many times unless you can ‘afford’ to take the risk you will have nothing but the same-old-same-old. So there is a point to ponder. Living life in general is taking a risk as you never know what the outcome of anything will be, including just walking out the door.

It probably stands to reason then that biting off your risks in small chunks will likely work best for most people. Where we are referring to a home business opportunity, you can really get an educated guess as to whether or not it is a wise investment. You can read all about the company on their website and read reviews from others. You can contact the company with questions.

Although reviews are useful for most things, you must consider that there are a lot of haters out there and just plain ignorant folks who may try to damage a program or product just because they didn’t like it. That they didn’t like it or do anything to make it work has almost nothing to do with the product. This is why you should read many reviews in different places if you are going to use this method to do your due diligence.

… and of course the other side, keeping in mind that the website is going to sing the praises and overlook things that are less than stellar about the program or product. However keep in mind particularly with affiliate programs and products where the financial risk is extremely small, that it won’t be the end of the world if you make a mistake. Almost 100% of the opportunities in this genre have no contracts beyond month-to-month. The risk is low in every respect.

If you happen to lose a few dollars, don’t let it stop you from trying again someday. If you have to let enough time go by that you feel that you can afford another possible small loss, take as much time as you need. As part of this effort maybe next time decide to invest more time and effort to make something work out. There are very few things that just blossom on their own – even the top earning programs.

You’ve Got to Do What You’ve Got to Do

It’s rather a bummer when you realize you really don’t have collaborators or ‘partners’ as much as you thought you did for your business. You realize this when it becomes clear that they are almost never there for you and you really don’t have any support – even when you are trying to support them. You begin to feel like an old shoe.

Keep it Real
The thing is that you still have to take care of your business whether or not there is support. That is if you care about it. I can imagine that realizing nobody is there for you really takes some of the joy out of having a business where you thought you had a partner. So really don’t let it stop you from your progress when this person fails you repeatedly.

You do have to wonder – if this person is spoiled, entitled, or just plain selfish? Maybe he is telling you he is not interested in the business anymore. If he doesn’t have the decency to discuss this with you and just leaves you hanging, then you should definitely bring it up. Get it all out on the carpet. Maybe it is just his ego where he can only act on his own demands.

Somehow he feels intimidated when you make a suggestion and his ego won’t allow him to lower himself even to help you when all you are doing is trying to help him. It’s a pretty sickly premise for having a “partnership” If you can’t even discuss some basics that will improve the business.

While you may not be in a position to just walk away and forget about him – shouldn’t be hard since he is never really there anyway. However as they say if you can’t change something all you can do is change the way you deal with it. So decide which way you want to take the situation. Stay and try to make the best of it. Accept that he will probably not change.

Or not – just let it go. Pick up your marbles and go home. Find another partner or even a new business. Of course do make an effort to resolve your issues on your way out the door. Make it clear why you feel you need to do something different.

Don’t Be Surprised If Things Change Suddenly

We should always be prepared for the unexpected. There are always constant changes in life and we can’t let things throw us off balance when they do. It is just a normal part of life which is not ‘a bed of roses’.

stay sober and watch
In a sense that is why one of the wisest beliefs is to ‘never gamble with more than you can afford to lose’. That way if you do lose it won’t ruin you – it will just make a little dent, sometimes referred to as ‘the cost of doing business’.

This refers in this case to for instance ‘investing’* money in yourself as part of a business opportunity. It can happen that through no fault of the program that their fortunes can turn for the worse. As a member and participant unfortunately you may be dragged down along with them. This is always a gamble that may not be avoidable.

It will be easy for you to blame the program, especially if you don’t understand the circumstances. Believe it or not a financial institution can actually persecute the company for too much success too fast. It is not just that they are skeptical and suspicious but that they are being forced to pay out large sums of money too fast.

As a business entity the payment processor aka financial institution, are required to accept the government’s rules and regulations. They need to ensure that they are not participating in a scam knowingly or otherwise.

In some cases they will put a ‘hold’ on people being able to receive the money they have earned, supposedly to allow the financial institution to accrue sufficient funds to pay everyone that is owed. In some cases the government becomes suspicious of the rapid success of the company and begins to make accusations.

The problem with this is that true or not, they usually believe in ‘guilty until proven innocent’ and in the meantime they believe they have the right to confiscate funds from members and programs that were paying as promised and as innocent as they could be. Even if at the end of the day they return or release the funds to those that do own them, all would be well.

However, you almost never hear of that happening as they spend the money on ‘receivers’ and nefarious legal fees – the best you are promised is ‘pennies on the dollar’ and even that you will likely never see even if you wait years (based on past situations and watching them play out).

So again don’t be surprised if it happens to your home business and be prepared in advance by not sinking every dollar into one opportunity, no matter how golden it may appear to be. Be sure to diversify your ‘investments’.

* (Note buying advertising is not ‘investing’ but this is the usual accusation that changes the legal standing where they are able to grab the juggler vein and ‘confiscate’ your funds).
