Safety in Numbers – Internet Marketing

Internet marketing is something that needs to be done aggressively and consistently over time to build and sustain momentum. Marketers can never rest on their laurels because they will quickly fall behind and go to the bottom of the pile. That’s marketing anything not just business opportunities or products online.

eMail marketing
There are many failures because people believe they can do something once or twice and that they are going to make a profit as a result. If they don’t see anything right away, they quit trying because they think it is pointless. It’s really sad that some people do not think things through. Other than a phony magic show where do they get the idea things just pop out of hats?

There is a list of reasons why people don’t try hard enough and most are avoidable. The reason that you always need to keep the volume of your promotions turned way up, is that marketing is a bit like ‘finding a needle in a haystack’. The majority of people around the globe are not interested in starting an online business or for that matter buying anything. It is just as likely there are those who are, and you just need to find them.

The statistic that is used for many marketing businesses is a 1-2% response rate being considered pretty good for example for eMail marketing. Note that ‘response’ can be just an inquiry and does not necessarily represent a sales transaction, so the percentage would be even smaller for actual sales.

Spammers have caused a huge problem for eMail services that are forced to use spam filters. Unfortunately the spam filters are frequently blocking legal bulk mail from businesses (and the spam is still in your inbox). The filters apparently often can’t differentiate between the two. They are amazingly unsophisticated for this day and age. Sadly your message may go to spam and never be seen.

Ethical online businesses would likely only use permission-based eMail . This means that you have to request a business to send their publication to you by ‘opting in’. Often blocked by spam filters but maybe not. eMail is invaluable to Internet marketers, regardless of the problems. You just need to allow that there is nothing we can do except accept that we are starting at a deficit thanks to evil spammers.

Don’t feel sorry for them – remember they are really not trying to do business with you. They are about disrupting business by creating chaos. Many people being inundated with spam after a while will realize it is futile to try to keep up with it and will stop opening most of their mail. Hopefully they will recognize your return address and since they signed up to receive mail from you, they will read it.

Hence, whatever you do in this regard, whether it is using list builder systems, sending solo ads, or buying leads, you should realize that you will need many on an ongoing basis to make up for those that will be lost. Remember not to get discouraged or blame the program or product you are advertising if you don’t get a response right away. Keep trying.

Transform your Life With a Home-Based Business

Whether personally or globally, our economy can have radical shifts. ‘Feast or Famine’. Unfortunately the ‘cost of living’ doesn’t change very often. Many are thinking of or already working from home. For several reasons it is probably best to do this part-time at first.

make your home pay its own biills
Working from home has many advantages. Besides being able to have extra money to save or use for something your salary alone may not afford, a close second is probably being your own boss and to do the kind of work you want to do. Most plan on eventually working from home full –time. (make sure you have proven full-time income before you quit your day job!)

A full-time home business provides freedom. You have the freedom to create and maintain your own work schedule and to save money on gas, food and clothes. If you ever calculated it you probably spend a lot of time commuting that you are never paid for if you are working away from home. When you work from home, you are able to keep more of the money you make.

Another advantage of having a home based business is that you can spend more time being around your family and friends. You will not have nearly as much stress all the way around as you would have with a job. Remember your kids are only kids once. Don’t miss all the ‘firsts’.

A home business gives you more opportunity to progress professionally. To run your own business gives you experience in management. Having your own plan gives you a chance to be more creative. You may even be able to use talents you haven’t been able to use before as well as ones you have honed through years in your career.

To make your home business work, you need to put together a well thought-out, written business plan. There are many online websites that can help you think this through. Don’t be in denial about this because you really need to know how much time and money will be required at different stages. There are many ways you can do this as your assets allow. Use the skills you have to do things for free to promote your business.

Viable Home Based Business

When you decide to start a legitimate home based business naturally you want it to be profitable and also flexible. You need the flexibility for a few reasons. A home business should not be drudgery like a job; so that you can have ‘wiggle room’ to allow you to live in an atmosphere of relaxed freedom; and you will also be more available to your family rain or shine.

earn income staying home
There are a few ‘niches’ you can choose to work from home and it might as well be something you are interested in, or has some other attraction, since it is your choice. You can sell products for companies online and produce a profit right from your home. The products can be ordered online with you receiving a percentage of the proceeds just for inexpensive advertising; or you can be responsible for shipping the ordered product to the recipient if you want to be totally independent (and keep the change).

Childcare is another legitimate home based business. This business can be conducted from your home. It is actually quite efficient if you have your own children – why not add a few more that pay? There may be required safety inspection and other legal matters to implement first. Your business can serve two purposes. One is to provide childcare for those who need it. The other purpose is to provide income to a home based business like yours.

Do you like to cook? Another legitimate home business that can thrive in today’s world is a catering business. Providing home cooked meals to working people can be very nice as you can choose how many meals you can handle in a day. Do as much as you can, no more no less if possible. The profits can be pretty good and they are saying in some towns it is actually cheaper to have a catered meal than to shop at the supermarket. (Not to mention all the work). This can be such a good thing for the family receiving the meals as they have more time to spend with each other and less stress.

A cleaning service can be profitable and it is one of the easiest services to sell. Just mention ‘I clean houses’ in a conversation and you will have people begging for either one-time archeological digs or weekly maintenance. Again this service is such a help to the busy professional, freeing up their time and creating an atmosphere of well-being.

Another service you can offer either alone or in tandem with one of the others is a laundry service. The laundry can be dropped off at your home, processed and picked up when the person gets off from work. This is another time saving necessity that is performed by the home worker for the busy professional who does not have the time to complete it. Improve your life with the extra money you will earn at the same time as helping someone else.

Building a New Business? Stick to It

Peoples lives can sometimes take sudden turns, If that happens, we have to take detours. Some examples of changes could be that our day job has increased the number of hours we are required to work there, so we have less time to devote to our home business.

Do what you gotta do
Or maybe it will be that our financial picture changes. We may have seen the cost of something crucial increase, such as our housing cost or utilities. So again, now we don’t have as much ‘spare change’ to use for developing our new business. The last possible disaster worth mentioning here is that we have had a full-time job and have been building our home business slowly, part-time while we survive on our day job salary. We learn that the day job will be eliminating our position and we need to find another full-time income right away.

Ideally we would be able to devote more time to our home business start-up and eventually make that our primary source of income. If you are entitled to severance pay and/or unemployment insurance, you can probably survive in the interim period and still have time to build your business. The point is that whatever the situation may be, don’t give up your idea to build your own business. If you had plans to do it one way, don’t give up just because your plan has to change when life gets in the way!

Create a new plan, do the same thing but do it a different way. The point is not to be too quick to assume you have no choice but to give up the new business you are building. Many people do not consider their home business to be serious. Obviously if you lose your day job before your home business is generating substantial income, you have a major crisis. In that case it is probably the wisest thing to do to find another day job first – ideally only part-time so you have more time to work at home to build the next chapter of your life.

More people could actually succeed at earning a substantial income from home if a million different things didn’t always take precedence over your home business. This is possible because you are not accountable to anyone else. You need to be accountable to yourself. You need to create a real plan that includes a budget and a schedule and commit to it. Realize what your living expenses are and take stock of how much money you actually have to cover them and by what date. Anything left over is ‘free’ to use for your business expenses.

Business opportunity shopping can create a ‘crazed’ mindset just like any shopping can! Sometimes it can be likened to a kid in a candy store, who wants one of each thing in the store. However this can be disastrous for more than financial considerations. It can be really disillusioning because of the expectation of a return on the investment. If you are having no results on one business opportunity, it is likely it will be across the board with all of your other risks. If you are seeing no results because you are not investing enough time and effort, that is what you need to focus on, not quitting.

Work at Home – Do Something Different

It may be that when you think in terms of expanding your efforts to earn extra money from home, that you only consider opportunities in the same genre as the ones you already have. This has its good points organizationally and logically – it will also help you as you won’t need to duplicate your efforts across the board.

keep it interesting 4 U 2!
However, it may also be a good idea to do something totally different that doesn’t fit together with anything you are already doing. This could be fun and offer some variety for you. For example say your home business is one that is centered around affiliate marketing programs. One way to expand might be to offer services for affiliates – to help them promote their business, such as list builders, solo ads, etc. This fits easily into your existing portfolio.

However wouldn’t it be fun to take up a craft that involves your hobbies or interests? For example have you always wanted to try your hand at making something like natural soaps and candles – or baking? This could be fun and may also become another source of income. A business based on arts and crafts is a lot more labor intensive than Internet marketing; but remember it is for fun and variety as well as extra income eventually.

Don’t do it unless you think it would be fun, as if not you may see it as one-too-many-things to do. You may be surprised that even when someone is totally focused to one thing, that you will find people that are more than willing to change the subject. They may actually be tickled by finding something they want ‘out of the clear blue sky’.

One example is a gas station where obviously selling gas is the primary source of income. Usually gas stations have ‘mini-marts’ where you can buy ‘convenience’ items while you are there. These ‘mini marts’ are a good little source of ‘extra’ income.

However, this could go farther, possibly if the owners also make some delicious home-made fried chicken to sell to their customers. Nobody would be expecting this in a gas station ‘mini-mart’ and therefore it has some attraction as a novelty.

Developing a Real Home Business – What is Holding You Back?

You may be a creative type with a million ideas all the time. However they rarely get past the idea stage. It could be ‘information overload’ or too much information that keeps you from selecting one idea and running with it. This may be just as bad as not having any ideas or being logical.

get started already
One way to get out of that maze may be to make a list of the ideas that come to mind. Don’t get hung up on the list – just do a ‘brainstorming’ type of list where you write down the ideas as they come. This list is likely very unrefined and should have some space after each idea where you can go back and define what you mean.

Then at a later time you can take ones that you have been able to define which would indicate you have given them some thought. Decide from that ‘top’ list which ideas would be most feasible. Break everything down as far as all the issues that would be relevant such as cost, time required, any issues that may delay or prevent going forward. This could include needing further information or instructions on how to move forward.

There may be more negative factors that hold you back from implementing your ideas. They would be more-or-less the opposite of too many ideas and be like not having any motivation to do anything beyond what you are already doing if anything. This can be due to medical or psychological problems such as underlying depression or low self-esteem. It can actually be even be due to a compromised immune system!

Your body and health are anything but irrelevant to your business. They are actually key if you can see yourself as a machine that is running everything. If it is misfiring then you are actually trying to function at less than full capacity. Pay attention to your diet and get plenty of rest. Don’t practice any kind of substance abuse unless you want that to become your ‘career’ rather than building a home business.

Your hang up could be a lack of money to invest in your business. This may take some time just like rebuilding your health. If it means you save $5 every time you have a paycheck or other windfall, then just do it. No matter how long it takes you to get as much as you need to do something, determine the target goal and stick to trying to hit it!

Does Extra Money Sound Like a Good Thing?

To most people it would. There always seems to be something extra we need. If we are living paycheck to paycheck then there are likely things we cannot afford to buy and we just have to learn to live without them.

born to shop!
Then again, why should we have to? There are a number of things you can do to create more income just working at it part-time from home. Of course there are other options such as a part-time job but this is really gnarly. You must rush from one job to the next considering your commute time and start and end time for both positions.

You may end up eating dinner in your car as you drive from one job to the other. Once again you were not able to see your family as by the time you get home they will be sleeping. Obviously if you think about having a part-time home business to earn extra money, it is a whole lot more pleasant and relaxed than the above scenario.

You can take your time coming home from your day job and settling in. You can visit with your family and have a nice relaxing dinner. Whenever you are ready, you can go and boot up your computer. You can now focus on developing your source of extra income, your part-time home business. It is up to you if you have the energy to put in several hours or just more or less check in and make sure everything is running right.

There are many things you can do online to earn money. Easiest and fastest would be joining an affiliate program where they supply everything you need to get set up and running. All you have to do is marketing and advertising online to promote the business and eventually earn commissions.

There are also other things you can do that also involve advertising – for example becoming a reseller for a product where the company does ‘drop-shipping’ straight from your order to the customer.

Other examples are providing a service for other home businesses – maybe technical, maybe office services. There are lots of ideas for you to consider that cost very little to implement.

Getting Things Done – Try to be Ahead of Time

Whenever possible try to have advanced notice of something that you need to do to keep your business running smoothly, and then go for it. You never know what may happen between now and the deadline for this issue. It could be anything – lots of little things or some that will be time consuming and may prevent you from being on time.

do it now
If you can handle doing things ahead of time even in increments, you will be ahead of the game whether or not anything out of the ordinary happens to delay you. Best case you can sit and feel prepared and on top of things. You may at this point even be able to identify something you could have done better – and even do it that way either this time or next time.

The point is there are things that do need to be done all the time with a home business. It may not be as apparent but you know what they are. Putting things off is a terrible idea for many reasons including deadlines and becoming overwhelmed when too many things stack up.

Making lists is of course very useful in staying organized – however you don’t want to have too many of these going on either. Lists may be critical but they are only instrumental in assisting you to keep track of what you need to do. They do not actually do anything to influence your bottom line.

When it comes to keeping lists it is helpful to have a few that reflect different time periods. You want to be able to see your target goals clearly. Mixing up what you need by this Wednesday is hardly relevant to what you need next month except maybe indirectly. The point though is you end up with a big scribbled mess that could hardly help you feel organized.

You should have at least 3-lists. One that reflects what you need to do in the short-term – today or this week. Another that has mid-range goals as may be necessary within 30-days. Then you can have a ‘master plan’ that reflects your long-range plans and might cover 6-months to a year so that you will remember what your long-term target goals are.

Home Business Things – When Things Get Tough the Tough Get Going

You know what? When things get tough you should realize you have to try harder in your home business just to keep up with your own status quo. Major clues may be that you appear to be stagnating (not making progress); or even worse you may be actually falling behind (sales are tanking).

Try it you'll like it!

Actually even this may be a positive thing because you may end up exceeding your past levels as a result of the extra effort you may put forth into trying to catch up! You may become re-enthused in accomplishing something with your business. Who knows at this time in your life, if you do not become even more excited about the possibilities and as a result be willing to make more effort to really succeed with your home business.

There is always something that seems paradoxical to some and that is to be ‘divorced from the fruits of your actions’. You naturally want to see results for your work. However it really can tend to make people want to rush and give them unrealistic expectations when they are only focused on the rewards. People really need to be aware that they need to focus on taking the actions that will eventually produce the results.

Otherwise you are putting ‘the carriage before the horse’. This is evident in many ‘new’ home business entrepreneurs where they are almost laser focused on – what they are going to get right away. They completely seem not to acknowledge logic or reality and insist that things will happen by osmosis merely because some successful guy told them it would.

They are in complete denial that they need to invest their time and effort to actually develop a business before they will see substantial results. It is not a quick, shallow half-effort a few times or once in a while. It needs to be a whole-hearted effort just like it would be if you had a job you wanted to do well with and succeed at.

The only difference is this one is for you – you are not putting forth this effort to make someone else rich. If you do it right and you really want it, it can be you that reaps the benefits. Think about that for a while especially if you feel bored or disenchanted with your life in general and/or your business in particular.

Critical Home Business Issues : Be There or be Square

Staying in touch with your downline and prospects are probably a few of the most important parts of your ‘job’ as a home business owner. That is if you want to be a success over the long-term. There are different elements to this and each is important.

Reach Out

There is ‘touch base’ – what is up with you? Are there any issues you are having you would like to discuss? This is usually an obvious autoresponder message; although that may not please everyone, just ask them to write to 100s of people individually and see from their own expression how ludicrous (and impossible) that would be. The point here is if there is a problem, respond to it. Don’t and you got a big joke that may actually become angry.

Then there are always ads and new opportunities that may be sent periodically to let people know there are new tools and resources if they are interested in adding something to their arsenal or they wish to try something new because they are disenchanted with their results right now.

However the most critical of all is to be contacted by one of your people and not respond at all or fail to keep your appointment. This is particularly insulting if you have said you ‘will get back to them’ or that you have set up an actual appointment and you don’t show; with no explanation – a real slap in the face.

This is the height of arrogance and there is no telling what you may deserve as a result if this is the ‘regular’ way you run your shop. Did you ever just in general read how always making people wait says that their time is not important to you? If it is more than occasional or unavoidable, again it is a slap in face insult.

Why do you treat people who believe in you, follow and support you this way? As a matter of fact they are paying your rent. What if they all quit and went away to find a sponsor who will actually work with them? You really need to think about this from every perspective and figure why you feel entitled to treat people this way and knock it off before you need to find a job.
