Safety in Numbers – Internet Marketing

Internet marketing is something that needs to be done aggressively and consistently over time to build and sustain momentum. Marketers can never rest on their laurels because they will quickly fall behind and go to the bottom of the pile. That’s marketing anything not just business opportunities or products online.

eMail marketing
There are many failures because people believe they can do something once or twice and that they are going to make a profit as a result. If they don’t see anything right away, they quit trying because they think it is pointless. It’s really sad that some people do not think things through. Other than a phony magic show where do they get the idea things just pop out of hats?

There is a list of reasons why people don’t try hard enough and most are avoidable. The reason that you always need to keep the volume of your promotions turned way up, is that marketing is a bit like ‘finding a needle in a haystack’. The majority of people around the globe are not interested in starting an online business or for that matter buying anything. It is just as likely there are those who are, and you just need to find them.

The statistic that is used for many marketing businesses is a 1-2% response rate being considered pretty good for example for eMail marketing. Note that ‘response’ can be just an inquiry and does not necessarily represent a sales transaction, so the percentage would be even smaller for actual sales.

Spammers have caused a huge problem for eMail services that are forced to use spam filters. Unfortunately the spam filters are frequently blocking legal bulk mail from businesses (and the spam is still in your inbox). The filters apparently often can’t differentiate between the two. They are amazingly unsophisticated for this day and age. Sadly your message may go to spam and never be seen.

Ethical online businesses would likely only use permission-based eMail . This means that you have to request a business to send their publication to you by ‘opting in’. Often blocked by spam filters but maybe not. eMail is invaluable to Internet marketers, regardless of the problems. You just need to allow that there is nothing we can do except accept that we are starting at a deficit thanks to evil spammers.

Don’t feel sorry for them – remember they are really not trying to do business with you. They are about disrupting business by creating chaos. Many people being inundated with spam after a while will realize it is futile to try to keep up with it and will stop opening most of their mail. Hopefully they will recognize your return address and since they signed up to receive mail from you, they will read it.

Hence, whatever you do in this regard, whether it is using list builder systems, sending solo ads, or buying leads, you should realize that you will need many on an ongoing basis to make up for those that will be lost. Remember not to get discouraged or blame the program or product you are advertising if you don’t get a response right away. Keep trying.

Very Few Programs Work Unless We Work Them

No program does magic tricks or create wealth for people. The people have to seriously work at making anything happen. Words used like ‘easy’, ‘free’ or ‘fast’ can be misleading, especially if you are hoping to get something for nothing. (wealth without work). We must be logical about these words because they are subjective – What you think is easy I may think is hard – or what you call fast I may think is slow.

Work it Baby, Baby
With that said, affiliate marketing programs do much to help you get started. They usually always provide several different resources toward that end. Nobody, however has a responsibility to make it profit except YOU! Depending on your level of commitment and focus, the program will eventually work over time. If you are willing to invest your time in learning, implementing your promotions, and giving them time to generate results, the program will probably work for you.

Nobody can guarantee your success. Success is about what you do with everything over time to develop your business! Of course there are still things we can’t control that may affect the speed at which we see results. Just keep your effort coming no matter what it looks like. When you don’t see anything it is time to ramp it up and do more, not get discouraged and stop working.

You can pay for services to help you with the work in building an affiliate marketing business from home online if you have a little money. With no money, that’s ok but you need to do your own marketing and advertising. Not difficult to find instructions and even models that you can use. In general you will find that using the Internet is 10 times cheaper, easier and faster than anything you can do offline – for example you don’t need supplies like paper, ink, postage, or equipment like printers to send advertising messages to your prospects.

You need a mechanism to capture leads online to send your messages to or you can pay for list building services. A combination of both usually works best as capturing leads can take a long time, although they are typically more interested than those on a purchased list of no quality. You don’t want to just “buy leads” – you want to ‘build a list’ of real people. You also may need an autoresponder to manage the list and send the messages automatically.

Don’t manufacture excuses to fail – It is really simple – If you want to earn a profit, you need to do the work and spend the time. You have to be very engaged in your business at all times; albeit whatever time you choose and keep in mind the more time the better result sooner.

If you slack off or sit back and wait, you may wait a long time for nothing. You get what you give. Nothing equals nothing. You are responsible for either your own success or your own failure. Just like real life!

Success Recipe

The recipe for success when building a home business is first finding one! We need to find the right ingredients and instructions. Obviously it’s pretty important to follow the directions to the best of your ability. Learn a few basics before you try to do things on your own. It is probably not the right time to do things your way if you have never built a business before.

cook it up
When you have learned some of the basics and have applied them to see how they work, then you can get creative and do things your way so that you will stand out, etc. If you don’t have any experience in the field however, you may waste resources (time and money) doing it your way when you are only guessing. It wouldn’t take that much time or effort to just learn a few facts.

Find some important expert advice and at least consider that they may be able to show you something you don’t already know. It is great to be a ‘non-conformist’ and to be creative, but there should be some foundation to start from. It may also help you if you have information that includes a ‘track record’ (statistics).

Starting a home business is not really like for instance baking a cake. With cake, if you don’t follow the recipe as far as the quantity of ingredients or baking time, you might end up with a lopsided lump that may even be inedible. With cake there is a right way and a wrong way. You do have more leeway with a business start-up to be creative as long as you have some valid frame of reference.

Above all else, what you don’t want to do is to find reasons to procrastinate or to waste time ‘reinventing the wheel’. If things require more technical expertise than what you possess at this point, don’t worry too much. You can learn what are actually very simple instructions, usually as you go along. Basic technical information will also begin to make more sense to you if you want it to.

Things will look very different to you in the near future, with a little experience and information under your belt. You will be more able to navigate and much of the stress will subside. Remember you do not need a degree in computer science or to be a programmer to learn how to function with your own business – eventually. Unless you actually want to have a technical business, there is really not that much you will need to know that is technical. At the same time though, you shouldn’t run away from it. Learn all you can.

An important ingredient for just about anything we do is Mindset. It allows us to have the ability to start anything, or maintain and succeed with anything. The best Mindset you can have in the beginning or the end is an open-minded willingness to learn (humility). Some things you can do at start up, and others will take time and experience to master. Don’t get in a rush which may only discourage you.

Internet Marketing – What is the Difference Between Selling and Promoting

How would your mood change if you were out just taking a leisurely walk. Someone gets in your face and rudely shoves a flyer or brochure at you, pushing their agenda. You can’t really pass them without knocking them down. They force you to see or listen to their sales pitch. Are you feeling receptive yet? Hardly. This sounds completely unpleasant and ‘pressure’ like this is never recommended. It does not encourage someone to cooperate with you and quite the opposite they may become ‘resistant’.

stay on the right track
The other obviously totally obnoxious sales strategy is when you answer your phone and either a person or a robot starts shouting a long diatribe about whatever their agenda is – sales, charity, or survey. (who listens). They do not stop as they spill out their script. The only way to stop it is to either just hang up or you literally have to shout ‘Stop! Not interested’ after they ignore all your polite, ‘no thank you’s’. Have these folks put you in the mood to buy in this atmosphere? Closer to phone slamming time especially since more than likely you have gotten several ‘appeals’ of this nature several times every day.

On the other hand, Internet Marketing is very different from other more intrusive mediums for marketing and sales. It is still sales and marketing, but on a very different level. You have the ability to not listen or not read whatever it is without getting in an altercation. Professional Internet marketers actually use a strategy called ‘ethical, permission-based eMail marketing’. This is where you do not contact anyone unless they request it (“opt-in).

The difference between selling and promoting is selling is trying to convince someone they want or need something you have, whether or not they are interested. Promoting is sharing information and then allowing the prospect to make a decision. Approaching someone who has expressed an interest has people coming to you and not you chasing them down. See the different dynamic?

Internet Marketing strategy is to build trust and relationship, by for one thing giving away information for free. Then if the person wants to know more, they come to you because they trust you. They may even feel subliminally that they owe you the business if they are convinced they need or want what you are selling. They appreciate that you tried to help them without any obligation.

When people consider you a winner, they want to know more about what you are doing. It is not you pushing it to where you can cause them to resist just because you are exhausting them. Give them a chance to think even if it requires a call-back. If you insist it has to be right now, then it may be never. Try to conduct a friendly transaction. They say people are much more likely to do business with a friend or acquaintance than just someone out of the blue. Remember to create a friendly atmosphere of trust before you try to sell something.

Safety in Numbers – Internet Marketing

It can be said that competition is fierce on the Internet, or maybe because it’s the way business has always been done, but what is done in this regard must be done consistently over time. Because of the nature of the communication, half-baked is not going to do as well as sincere effort.

Keep up the good work
Marketers can never just ‘kick back’ and figure they have done enough, because they will more than likely fall behind if they don’t really invest themselves in their business. One cause of Internet marketing failures, is because some believe they can just do something once or twice. When they don’t see an instant result, they may quit trying because they think it is pointless. There are actually many reasons people don’t try hard enough and most are avoidable.

You need to keep the volume turned up when it comes to marketing. It is like what you would envision ‘finding a needle in a haystack’ to look like. The majority of people may not be interested in starting a home business online. However thankfully there are some who do. You need to focus on finding them and not give anymore attention than necessary to those who don’t. Most of all don’t let them discourage you.

The number that is considered acceptable is a 1% response rate, for example with eMail marketing. Note that response can mean just a further inquiry and not necessarily a sale or done deal – so the percentage would be even smaller for actual sales. That’s normal and many marketing experts online have learned how to succeed with whatever obstacles there have been just by sheer determination.

Evil spammers are worse than ever. As such eMail services are forced to use spam filters. A double whammy, the spam filters are not that efficient and very often can’t differentiate illegal spam from legal bulk mail sent by legitimate online businesses. That means that your message may go to a spam folder and never be seen by your prospect.

However we should accept that regardless of the problems, eMail marketing is still a major strategy in Internet marketing. You need to keep the number of messages you send to customers, prospects and peers at the max to make up for all the obstacles to be overcome.

Whatever you do, whether it is using list builder systems, having lead capture pages, sending solo ads, or buying leads, you need to realize that you will need many ‘leads’ on an ongoing basis.

Maybe most important is not to get discouraged or blame the program or product you are promoting if you don’t get any response immediately. Keep focusing on what you want to create with your online business. Do not give any unnecessary energy to worrying about people who are not interested. Use your time and energy wisely and focus on the ones who are.

Are You Standing in Your Own Way for a Successful Home Business?

There are some mindsets that may prevent people from realizing their full potential when trying to get their home business started. Most ideas require more than a ‘vision’ to manifest. We have to make them happen by investing our time and effort to engage in w-o-r-k.

don't let anything stop you
There are sometimes symptoms when there are obstacles people can’t seem to transcend. ‘Paralysis by analysis’ is one such self-limiting condition. Paralysis by analysis is where people get stuck in the learning curve – like a hamster wheel. All they want to do is just keep reading and researching. They never reach a point where they can believe they know enough to actually take action with any of the information they have acquired in all their time of ‘study’.

Paralysis by analysis is very much like stage fright. However, it can also be a more or less permanent excuse to avoid doing the actual work, and even to insulate themselves from potential failure. We will never know if we could have success or failure unless we try.

Some unfortunate souls have been beaten down by negativity from their family or other acquaintances in their lives. They are more likely not to have a lot of self-confidence and are likely to feel a little insecure. However it is no excuse to fail. Don’t let the enemy have the victory. Learn to resist feelings that keep you from achieving your dreams.

The only solution is to take action. Ignore excuses your mind tells you that supposedly may preclude you from success. If you just defy that part of your mindset and do it anyway, you will overcome that and eventually those bad feelings. You will have the self-confidence to do it and actually you did do it. If it isn’t the best thing you will ever write or create, don’t worry. You will learn as you gain experience.

If when you are new, you don’t know that you have any experience that you can honestly write about, then take something written by someone more experienced, and review that or even quote them. Be sure to remember the quote marks and any URL links provided by the author so that you give the author credit for their work (and don’t get a copyright infringement lawsuit).

Then we have people that perceive a million problems. If there are any actual errors, identify and correct them. Done. Be logical when trying to solve a problem. Don’t be afraid to ask for help – contact support, or contact a peer or mentor who would be willing to help you. Resolve the issue and then move on.

If you still haven’t found the answer, still move on. Make a note to revisit the issue at some other time. Just don’t allow whatever it is to stop you in your progress. If you never find your answer, allow yourself to create an alternative.

Some problems people may imagine do not even exist in reality. Even things like no money for advertising or other operations. Just learn techniques that you can do yourself for free or at an affordable cost. You could sacrifice something that is not essential in order to do something you need to do for your home business.

Leadership Skills for Home Business Entrepreneurs

Of the common traits of successful leaders, the top two characteristics are thought to be being conscientious and being extroverted. Being conscientious one would always be taking care of business, (doing what you have to do, on time); and having a business plan including target goals. Being focused of course has everything to do with having any of these skills.

yes boss
Being an extrovert has more to it than being ‘the life of the party’ and indicates someone who is outgoing and sociable. Being sociable is a trait or ability that is instrumental in the art of motivating others. Dominance is also a factor that people react to because they believe it indicates competence, so they might trust you if they see you that way.

There are always exceptions to every rule, and in this case for example an introvert can also be an effective leader because they listen to others. Now isn’t that a gift! We need more people who will really care enough to listen. A good leader would be attractive to others. Trust and respect are important in business. They are qualities that make one attractive to others. Trust and respect are particularly relevant if you are in a position to encourage others to follow you into a business opportunity.

It doesn’t mean you can’t still be a good leader and be successful in business if these character traits don’t come naturally. It would be in your best interest to cultivate them. If you are shy and a bit introverted, forcing yourself to smile and making eye contact frequently will go a long way. Pretty soon it will seem more natural. People do not read our minds and being shy may often be perceived as being unapproachable or even ‘stuck-up’.

Being conscientious is easier to practice because we can control our own actions if we plan on it. This includes not only being trustworthy and honest, but being professional. You would be on time, and meet your obligations as far as you have committed yourself. It is really disrespectful to keep people waiting as if their time is not important. Being conscientious also includes being accurate and efficient in presenting yourself and your work (skill set). Proofreading is that extra step that you should definitely take.

‘You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression’. The first impression will really stick to you whether positive or negative. Although people may overlook our imperfections since they also are not perfect, if we make chronic mistakes, then we can lose their respect and trust. Since there are factors we can’t control, such as how well the business will do in the future, you want to establish a strong relationship so that your foundation will not falter if things get rough down the line.

New Home Business Start-Up – Having Target Goals

If you are really serious about wanting a successful home business, you should start right out being organized. This involves having lists that include tasks and clearly outlined target goals you need to accomplish.

aim for your target
A few tips about making ‘to do lists’: Do not try to put a whole year of tasks on one list. You should ideally have at least three lists – one for now (today or this week for example), one for near future (the month) and one for distant future (6-months to a year for instance).

One reason for this is so that you are not trying to be organized using a list that looks like a complete snarled (scribbled) mess. Every time you cross something out because it has been done* or been cancelled, it gets harder and harder to navigate. Remember you don’t want your lists to become another obstacle. Lists are to help you, not hinder you further by becoming tedious.

Another tip about lists is that you should be realistic. Don’t put something on the ‘now’ list unless you are absolutely sure you will do it today or this week. When you don’t get to it, cross it off and move it to the next list = whether it will be part of the newest ‘today’ list you will create or pushed out to ‘near future’.

A point about not doing what you projected or planned, is that it can get discouraging when you don’t accomplish what you intended. No just once or twice (stuff does happen), but as a rule. If you often do not meet your deadlines, it would be a good idea for you to analyze what is happening to keep you from your target goals.

If you are really sophisticated you might want to look into Gantt Charts. It is really fun if you like to plan in detail. It has charts that show the beginning of a project and what needs to be in place at that time. Then as you go along it lists the dependencies. For example, can’t use the swimming pool until it is filled with water. It outlines how much time and what resources are necessary to accomplish each step of your plan so you can be ready for the next step.

Remember the tighter your plan and the closer you stay to the target, the better the outcome for your business. If you are a born procrastinator, you may find that just having the plan will encourage you to accomplish your target goals pretty much on time.

Your Internet Business Can Be Like a School

People might be very surprised if they found out how much is really available online. For example community colleges have free or very inexpensive courses that can be done completely online. Even various certificates of achievement can be earned in this way.

get it!
So at that price you can take something you are curious about or interested in that really hasn’t got much of a chance of helping your career. Just for fun. Along the way you may change your mind and it could possibly turn into something that would be a career.

Naturally it makes the most sense to find something that might even help you get a promotion or to elevate your skill level so you would qualify for a better job – or even to enhance your technical skills so that you may take more control of your home business. For example it would be so helpful if you had more of a handle on basic HTML so that you were not dependent on programmers whenever you want to make a small change to your website.

There are multiple free courses in HTML and other technical languages on the Internet right now. This could also be anything that would help your business like bookkeeping, or using a proprietary software that performs some task that you need to work from home. These courses, while maybe not formal (having certification) can be started the same day they are discovered, a manual printed out for reference and then just go!

It is amazing how the search engines have vast amounts of free information on the fly – a breathing index of facts for everyone who seeks and has access to; and then to realize you can really drill down from there to find really extensive instructions if you want to pursue something to more of an extent. There is nowhere in the world where there are more possibilities to learn than the Internet.

It would be a shame to waste it especially because even the business you are trying to develop can itself teach you so much about business procedures, using software, etc. Even though ‘code’ and etc. may seem complex and ‘above’ your head, it really isn’t. If you look at it you will definitely see patterns that can be recognizable to you in the future and not at all ‘rocket science’ or something unachievable except to geniuses.

Building a New Business – Don’t Ever Lose Your Faith

It is important that you have faith and you keep it in tact no matter what happens. Having faith, like praying or wishing for something, does not guarantee anything. You may or may not receive what you need and want. Yet it shouldn’t have any effect on your level of faith. If you keep it in general, just having a positive mindset about everything, then you can’t lose.

Keep the Faith!
It is a lot like the opposite meaning of the expression that ‘you can’t fail unless you quit’. Think about it. As long as you are still trying, nobody can say you quit. You don’t need to feel that you failed. Remember we are all individuals and different. We each learn in our own way and take as much time as we need.

The harder you try the more momentum you have, because while you are trying you are actually learning and practicing and someday you will actually achieve your goal.

So in many ways having faith is essential no matter what you are trying to accomplish. Think of having none. How could you carry on without faith? If you had no faith you would just throw up your hands and say “I can’t”. However, since there is no ‘can’t’, what you must mean is you ‘won’t’. You will find someday that you can never give up as long as you have faith.

Being alive, you will likely think of lots of ideas as time goes by, and when the time and place are just right, maybe that will be the right time for you. The point is to keep an open mind and to believe that at any time you could come up with something that is notable!
