The Theory That We Can’t Lose Unless We Quit

It is really pretty simple to realize that unless you quit you keep trying. So the only way you can truly lose is if you quit trying. Something here reminds also of the sayings about ‘losing the battle but not the war’, and that ‘the road to success is littered with failures’.

The key must be not to beat yourself up to the degree that you just give up. It must be that we need to observe what has happened for better or worse, to note the actions that lead to the result; and if the result is failure, then we need to know how to do it differently so that we produce victory. So failure should only be seen as a lesson.

Quite possibly we need more information and experience all along the way, even if we are not flat-out failing, just to perfect our style. A healthy person enjoys are hard work to achieve something. The more they want that something, the more energy and time they are willing to invest.

In particular people say they really want to start a home business. They may feel this way because they realize they are not happy with their circumstances. Whether that indicates they are not earning as much money as they want or need, or that they do not enjoy some or even all the aspects of performing the job they have.

It can be particularly disheartening if one really strives to go above and beyond what is expected so that they excel, but there is no reward. They may have an ignorant or poor manager who feels they are already paying the person a fair wage. They may pay the same wage to people who just show up and take up a chair for 8-hours, barely scraping by to get the minimum done on time.

Some people will just stay in a miserable situation because they believe they have no choice. This is really sad since our working hours take up such a large percent of our lives. It is actually unhealthy to believe being unhappy and dissatisfied is acceptable. So this may be why when people see there are alternatives that they are attracted to them.

It is particularly advantageous because it is easier to work at home part-time while supporting yourself with your job, than to either get a second job or to look for another position while employed full-time. One does have to take into consideration the necessity of supporting oneself while they are developing a business. Online may be easier, more convenient and less expensive, but it is still reality where things take time and effort to achieve success.

Home Business 102: Taking Responsibility vs. Entitlement

As an analogy, let’s look at a pencil. A pencil is a tool that we can use for many things that primarily involve writing. However a pencil will just sit there and do nothing unless we pick it up and start writing. Otherwise, it is useless. Only when we use it to take action is it fulfilling it’s highest purpose and benefiting us in the process.

use your resources

Conversely, if we don’t use it, is it the pencil that is bad? Can we blame the pencil for our failure to take action? (nope) The same principle applies when we are talking about your home business, there are plenty of resources available to us to use online, much of the time freely. Of course they do nothing for us unless we use them. We are responsible to make use of the tools we need to succeed.

Now when it comes to an affiliate program or your sponsor in that program, they have their functions. They do what they can to help you. However, they are not really responsible for your success or failure. You are the one responsible to take action to utilize what resources are available to you. If they have provided tools and/or training then you need to use it. The point is though that they are not to blame if you fail to do what you need to do.

Joining a program under a sponsor does not entitle you to anything more than what is promised. The program will provide a sales web page and other graphics for you to advertise; they will handle your sales transactions; support you and your customers; account for and pay your commissions, etc. The sponsor may be able to direct you or answer a few questions for you initially.

The point is neither one of these resources is responsible for your success or failure. Only you are. You need to make the best use of your time and resources. You may need to learn just how to do it correctly and this may take time for trial and error. You may be fortunate enough to find a mentor who will help you accelerate this process. By helping you to navigate the information as far as what he may know by experience to be true or not, he may save you some time and money in this regard.

Another analogy here might be appropriate and that is one with your parents. They ‘brought you into the world’ and fed and raised you until you could take care of yourself. They have hopefully done their best to give you what you need to get started in life. All of this said, this does not make them responsible for your success or failure beyond the influence whether positive or negative that they make have had.

It is all about what you do with what you have. You are the only one that is responsible ‘at the end of the day’, so if your home business fails, don’t blame your parents, your sponsor, your programs, the government or God. However if you succeed it would be nice of you to thank them. There is just a lot to be said about being thankful, if only for your own mindset.

Starting an Online Business – Do You Live to Work or Work to Live?

To be honest when starting any business it would help if you are among the ‘Live to Work’ group. You really have to more or less enjoy working to want what is possibly a second job. In any case you will likely be spending a lot of time just getting started and obviously you will need to devote as much quality time as possible to your online business.

Be a Worker Bee

From the perspective of having a way to survive while building a business, it is best to start developing your plan for a home business while you still have an income from another source. This is because it takes time to start-up a business; Time to learn, to implement, and to develop a business (maintenance).

It is ok of course if you consider yourself in the ‘Work to Live’ group, as long as you understand that you will need to work at starting your own business, and maybe work harder at it since there are some things about your job career that you may take for granted.

This is the structure. It is already there with a job. They have the office, the equipment, the procedures and processes and the customers — and all you need to do is learn how to use everything and then just do it. You know what time you are expected to be there and what time you can go on breaks and when you can leave for the day. You know how much money you will make and when you will be paid.

When you are in business for yourself none of the above is a given. You have to set it all up. Possibly the most difficult part is in staying motivated since you don’t have a boss to be accountable to. You are it. So if you feel like putting something off, or not doing something at all, you have nobody to answer to. Easy to procrastinate and slack off. Oh sure, I’ll do that never.

On using money as the main motivation to work, again with a job it is sure – you know how much you will make and by when. With your own business you may be working for some time before you see the money and you can’t really say for sure when you will see any. This is natural if you feel disoriented with regard to this, however you may have a psychological problem with it because there is a ‘fine line’ there. The purpose of a business is to make money. If you do not see any, well, you say, what is the point?

You are not likely to make much money at first until you get everything rolling, in particular your marketing and advertising to attract customers. Even then you have to give it more time and in this regard you need to continually build momentum by keeping the volume of your advertising and marketing to the maximum. You should never ‘rest on your laurels’.

This is because not everybody who sees your ads will respond – in fact the majority will not respond. So you have to ‘find the needle in the haystack’ and plow through to find the people who are interested and will take action. Further to this even when you start getting traffic that will not only respond but actually convert to sales, you still need to constantly be finding new business – so again it is about the momentum. You can never stop unless you don’t mind your business drying up.

If you are starting an online business, get ready to do some work. Look at making money as a hobby and try to have fun getting to the prize. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint”, so don’t expect instant results, miracles, magic or osmosis. It’a all about just plain old w-o-r-k that will get you wealthy (unless you expect to inherit money or win the lottery)!

Home Business Start-Up: When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going

Really things can get tough at any point in the transition to the idea of starting a business, to being engaged in actually running it. Just the fact that you would take a risk and would keep trying to progress, this makes you strong and the more energy you give it the tougher you get. First you will be expending more energy, and if it is for something you want, then you will do it with joy.

You could have always chosen to rest on your laurels and accept the status quo of your day job and the whole 9-yards that goes with being ‘normal’. You may have done just fine. But you wanted more – to do more, to have more, to be more. You are a “tough cookie”, and hence, you are unlikely to fail. If you lose a few battles, oh well. You will ‘pick yourself up and dust yourself off’ — You will always keep propelling yourself forward. You will create momentum that will likely effect additional facets in your life beyond business.

Even being tough doesn’t necessarily make you perfect. You will likely make mistakes and of course hopefully they will be small ones. Mistakes are only lessons. Sometimes they can be the best teachers because they are emphasized by your having had direct experience, and suffered the consequences, vs. reading about it from outside in a book.

We should take stock of our mistakes and try to analyze why or how they happened. What could we have done differently? What will we do now? These answers may take some research whereby you actually find alternative resources that will ultimately solve the problem in the future. So in line with the characteristics of a successful winner we will see each obstacle as only a challenge to be overcome.

The tough don’t take much time to elaborate on negativity. They see it and analyze it only in so far as to understand it so that they can release it and grow forward. They don’t accept defeat and they certainly don’t let it slow them down. They barely skip a beat because their energy remains focused on overcoming and moving ahead.

So you can start toughening up from the get-go – what is going on that you feel that you need to have more than you do – that you know you can accomplish more than you are at this time? The way things are we can’t just leave every job that doesn’t meet our every expectation. That’s something we may have to accept in order to see the ‘big picture’. When you can see something like this as a ‘means to an end’ rather than the end-all, then it will not seem so bad because you know you are on your way up, up and away!

Be Happy and Start Your Own Home Business

We spend a good percentage of our waking life working. That is one reason it is important that we feel some happiness and/or satisfaction in what we are doing. Sometimes you really have to talk yourself into it because the situation is not all you would hope it could be, but it is your life and you have to live with it.

be happy!

It is human nature to want more than we have or to feel we could do more. This may even be what motivates us to go ‘the extra mile’ to take control and change our situation for the better. Note that successful or not, just the fact that you are making an effort to take action above and beyond what is required, says something about your strength of character.

No matter what the situation, it is important to realize there is much to be thankful for. It may help to make a mental list of these things. If you have your health then you are blessed. If you have a loving family there is another blessing. Even very basic things that we take for granted definitely shouldn’t be. Not everyone has water, food or shelter and we are so fortunate if we do.

So just based on the fact that you can work – you have a way to support yourself, for better or worse, you should be able to consciously feel good about your life. If your job doesn’t make you feel happy and satisfied then you need to see how it could be a lot worse without it. So maybe that is the reason you can try to do more than just cope.

With that said, you shouldn’t let anything stop you from trying to exceed your current situation; so again, be happy while you make an effort to change your plight, by for example starting your own business part-time, and building it up with your long-range target goal being to support yourself entirely from your own endeavors.

You may not be crazy about some of the tasks you may need to do for your own business. In fact it may take you a while to realize you are working without pay while you are starting it up but it is more than OK! It is important to be able to convince yourself to be happy with it. Certainly have fun with your business if you can. Almost certainly you will find that the atmosphere of working from home is far and away more pleasant and creative than working at job day after day.

“That is the way to learn the most, that when you are doing something with such enjoyment that you don’t notice that the time passes.” Albert Einstein

Affiliate Marketing – Earning While Learning

All of the skills you have gained from your training and experience in your working life are all relevant to starting a business. There are some specific skills that you should acquire as you go along in your online business endeavor. Just as you learned on the job by experience you will do the same with whatever you focus your energy on.

affiliates

Hands down the easiest way to get in there and start learning how to earn money online, is by being part of an affiliate program. You need to learn how to do marketing and advertising online, as well as how to write and communicate. With the affiliate marketing program business model, thankfully what you don’t need right off the bat is knowledge of how to develop, program and produce a product to sell; or need to know how to build your own organization and membership system.

Obviously developing a product or program yourself is time and money intensive. Probably more people would try to start a business if they knew they didn’t have to invest their resources this seriously without the benefit of any formal training or experience in this area. Everything in life is a gamble, but it is always best to be conservative and not to ‘gamble with more than you can afford to lose’ – because there are never any guarantees.

There are different kinds of affiliate programs and if you don’t feel comfortable earning commissions from referring people, then you can focus on selling the products and services provided by that program. These can be digital or physical products. Having multiple ways to earn money from one program is a great thing if people will fully engage in it. You can theoretically start earning money right away, keeping in mind that this usually involves marketing and advertising first.

This kind of program will supply you with an ID and a link that they give you to advertise along with a web page that is all ready for you to use. No programming or technical skills are required. You just set up your account and they will give you what you need to start. Most if not all affiliate programs also provide some level of training or coaching as well as possibly the use of some resources. You pay your membership dues which are usually very reasonable although there is a wide range as far as cost.

Another form of affiliate marketing would be where you work directly for a manufacturer selling their products by ‘drop-shipping’. You see some of the oldest home businesses in this niche – such as selling beauty or health products for example. Even though you don’t have to buy an inventory or deliver things to customers, these type of businesses may charge you for all materials you use such as order forms, brochures, etc. So while tangible products may be easier to sell, and have a reputation that you can benefit from, it is not as inexpensive for a start-up as a purely online-based business.

While Making Money Can Be a Hobby, It Isn’t a Game

If you work at a demanding full-time job and have a gnarly commute to boot, you probably are not real enthused about spending more time working to start a home business so you can be making money on the side. However this is the very thing you should be doing. It may help to look at it as a hobby – one that you are interested in and find to be a fun project that you look forward to.

@ super business man

The motivation doesn’t even have to be making money – you can imagine not having that grizzly commute and just working from home someday, kicked back with your feet up, enjoying the journey as much as the thought of the eventual destination. The point is this could be critical someday, so find a reason to love it and pour whatever is left of yourself by the time you get home into it.

We can never know what is around the corner. Whether it is going to be something that helps or something that hinders. Therefore we need to be prepared, and making the most money now, while you still can, is a wise decision. There is a whole laundry list of possible disasters of varying magnitudes that could befall you and your family. If you had some money saved and/or an alternate way to support yourself well-established, landing on your feet would be a lot more sure.

So many things that we may have grown up being accustomed to are either gone or in a precarious state. You just never know what will happen to the company you are depending on to pay you a pension. Their investments can tank just like your own. There is no longer the concept of ‘too big to fall’. We have seen the biggest corporations fall to their knees and it can happen to individuals as well, as a result.

We saw what happened to millions of people in the last ‘recession’ where people lost their money on the stock market and even lost their homes that they worked all their lives to buy. We saw people who were reaching retirement age realize they had insufficient retirement funds and instead of planning a trip to Cabo they find themselves looking for part-time jobs for senior citizens. It’s just tragic. It’s heartbreaking to imagine looking forward all your life every day to something that is only a mirage, built with ‘funny money’.

What is the risk for you to invest your spare time in starting a home business to start making money so that you can feel a little more secure? For one thing, if nothing catastrophic happens where you need the money, you may be pleasantly surprised when you see you actually have enough money saved to buy something you really want but felt you couldn’t afford, like a new car or to take a vacation now while you still can.

The bottom line is it isn’t a game – if you are going to start a home business you need to take it seriously. Your home is a ‘kicked back’ environment, and lots more relaxed than the hostile corporate or retail work environment; however this could mean that you have to even more so be really determined and focused – absolutely committed, so that you will stay motivated to take care of business.
